The environmental management system is applicable to any organization, regardless of size, type, or nature, and applies to the environmental aspects of its activities, products, and services that the organization determines it can control or influence, taking a life cycle perspective into account. It makes no mention of any specific environmental performance objectives. This standard can help to achieve sustainable development by protecting the environment by preventing and/or mitigating negative environmental impact, mitigating the potential adverse effect of environmental conditions on the organization, assisting the organization in meeting compliance obligations, and improving environmental performance
